We specialize in the administration of Housing Programs, including Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers which can be used throughout Broward County with the exception of the City of Hollywood and Project Based Vouchers for the elderly at Saratoga Crossings Apartment in Dania Beach.
The role of the Dania Beach Housing Authority is to ensure safe, decent, and affordable housing; create opportunities for residents' self-sufficiency and economic independence; and assure fiscal integrity by all program participants. The Dania Beach Housing Authority does this by providing public and voucher choice programs to elderly, disabled, and extremely low-income residents.
Voucher choice allows the client to rent housing anywhere in the tri-county area that will accept federal vouchers for rent. The Dania Beach Housing Authority administers the program, including management of the waiting list, processing applications, performing property inspections to ensure they meet HUD quality standards, and working with residents to find support services.
The Dania Beach Housing Authority is responsible for approximately five hundred thirty-six housing choice vouchers as well as a new 172-unit apartment complex, Saratoga Crossings, which is completed and awaiting some unit inspections. The Housing Authority Executive Director and staff are overseen by the seven-member Board of Commissioners. The Board members are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Dania Beach and approved by the City Commission. The members must be Dania Beach residents, and at least one member must be a resident of public housing or a Section 8 program participant. No member or officer of the Authority may be an officer or employee of the City of Dania Beach.
